Rabbits like to chew and "chewies" should be provided to keep them happy. The diet of pet rabbits must be varied and balanced. Feeding at regular intervals is wise, if you care for the rabbit's health. It goes without saying; fresh water should always be available for rabbits.

Pelletted feed products are most suitable to raise a healthy rabbit. Though green food is useful for rabbits, its importance should not be overestimated, as abundance of this food can led to indigestion and diarrhea. Lettuce is not the best choice for rabbits either. It can cause kidney damage.

Rabbits are cute and charming and do not require too much attention from their owners. However, this does not mean that rabbits do not need playtime out of their cage and some exercise every day.

They need a relatively large cage to live in. Rabbits are very entertaining to watch and when properly tamed, they are playful and interactive. Nevertheless, rabbits are unsuitable playmates for young children who may be not careful enough while picking them up, holding them and playing with them. It is important to remember that rabbits would rather not be held and hugged.

Rabbits are valued for their fur and meat. They can be one of the desired objects of prey for recreational hunting. Rabbits usually make wonderful family pets. Moreover, their popularity as house pets is growing. More than fifty breeds of rabbits are raised as pets or for the table.

The common damage that rabbits can cause is eating crops in competition with livestock for forage. This damage is rather tangible when rabbits are in great numbers. Farmers sometimes consider rabbits to be the greatest of pests.
